Welcome to our little restaurant, "On the Hill".
We are a husband and wife team, working together to run a great little bistro style restaurant serving quality food teamed with good service. We are assisted by our brilliant staff, most of who speak both Welsh and English. We unfortunately do not speak Welsh (yet), but have that goal in mind for the future!
Our restaurant is located just off St Peters Square in the busy medieval market town of Ruthin which dates back to the 13thcentury, situated in the beautiful Vale of Clwyd, the town has much to offer visitors, with the many little shops, visitor attractions such as Ruthin gaol, and the historic house of Nantclwyd y Dre.
The restaurant is housed in a 16th century building, with beautiful dark wood beams, oak floors and intimate lighting throughout the two floors of the restaurant. The restaurant has the air of a bistro, with artwork by Rowans great-grandfather and padded pew seating.
Here in the restaurant we pride ourselves on the quality of food you receive, using locally sourced (where possible) and seasonal products, and all cooked on the premises and offered to you at a reasonable price.
At lunch time we offer a set menu that offers a wide choice of starters, main courses and homemade desserts to cater everyones taste. Our evening menu has a superb selection of meat, vegetarian, fish and gluten free dishes. Our menu is regularly changed so that you will always be spoilt for choice. Here at 'On the Hill' we take our time to choose an extensive selection of wine to cater to everyones taste and pocket.
We can make any occasion extra special, such as a birthday or other celebration by adding decorations to the table to make it a night to be remembered, just let us know your requirements and we'll be happy to assist.
Children are most welcome at lunchtime, however, we do not have highchairs (you are welcome to bring a booster seat!) and we do not offer a children's menu, but can offer smaller portions from our menu for little one's! In the evenings, we feel is time for adults to relax and enjoy their night out, so with that in mind only children aged 7 and above are permitted.
